About Us

With backgrounds, but more importantly, interests, in multiple design fields, JACK ALL TERRAIN STUDIO is a multi-disciplinary design firm. We operate during lunch hours and after hours of work. Like an ALL TERRAIN VEHICLE, we value exploration and adaptiveness. This comes out in the design process. Our goal is to work with other people that enjoy research, iteration, and longevity in terms of quality and values- to create designs that connect humans together.

JACK ATS ’s personal aesthetic is that of “good enough”. Our biggest influences are nature and streetwear. We like the timelessness of nature but also the punk rock attitude of streetwear. A “good enough” design hopefully conveys beauty, shows the imprints of a human hand, and requires ongoing maintenance, which leads to a personal relationship with the design. A “good enough” design hopefully grants users to a feeling of freedom and acceptance that more than perfection and ultimate efficiency, what is best for you is in right in front of you.

We value and learn from the history of past designers and processes but we’d also like to constantly challenge conventional thought through different processes based on the project- one that is fun, maybe less efficient, but honest.

We seek to learn and have fun while doing so!

JACK comes from the two quotes “a jack of all trades, master of none” and “I don’t know jack shit”. We try to stay in between both mentalities of seeking to learn but also accepting not knowing.
